PreemieMom's blog

preemie with sleep apnea?(snoring ,waking up crying, not gaining weight)

Kareena is 19 months old, weighing only 18 lbs since last year, is struggling with constant congestion and runny nose. it lasted for almost an year, the doctor said it is common cold and she keep getting infected with it. treated her with antibiotics with no success. she was snoring and mouth breathing at night and i could hear her breathing loud even when she was awake. Her GI doctor was concerned about her not gaining weight. finally he directed me to a Pulmonologist and then to an ENT specialist. the result is that she has an enlarged adenoid which is blocking her airway.

My Preemie Baby Refuses to eat.

My 27 weeker had severe acid reflux issues. she used to throw up 10 times a day(no spit up) all over me mostly. but she was still eating well and gained up to 16 pound 5 ounces. around 4-5 months of age she started to refuse all the feeds which is unusual for her. so we decided to take her aid her to our pediatrician who checked and said her throat looks red and it could be some viral infection. no treatment needed, we brought her home hoping that she will start eating better as the throat gets cleared.

Me and My Preemie Baby

My baby born weighing 770 grams(micro preemie)at 27 weeks. Since I was having severe Preeclampsia (high bp,kidney excreting all the protein in the urine, liver enzymes high)we had to do a c-section and get the baby out.she was in NICU for 3 months.she was on ventilator(breathing support)just for a day. My obstetrician was excellent and she planned everything well ahead. One day I just went for a routine visit we found that I have protein leaking in the urine 40000+, my doctor didn't sent me home, instead I was put on bed rest in the hospital.
